Diving - Amed

Amed is situated in north east Bali. Amed's villagers exist from salt panning. Arriving there you will notice the woodpiles which are used for this technique of salt extraction. The coral garden starts right off the beach breaking the surface with a staghorn coral field and huge schools of glass fish. This is Bali's best snorkelling area. The actual dive site can be reached by outrigger boat.
The dive starts in a shallow area of 3 to 8 m in a wonderful coral garden. You may encounter turtles and bump-head parrot fish. A moderate current will guide you in approx. 20 min to the drop off's edge. One of Amed's drop offs drops straight down to 30 m. It is beautifully grown with soft coral and any possible species of reef fish can be found there.

Diving - Tulamben Wreck

Tulamben Wreck is directly situated near the beach on Bali's northeast coast. The 120m long wreck rests in a 90 degree angle with the deck facing the sea side and used to be an American supply ship named „USA Liberty". Anchored off the coast of Lombok, the ship was hit by a Japanese torpedo during World War II. Miraculously nobody got hurt, but the damage turned the ship into a non-functioning and useless hull.
The American Navy's plan to tow the ship to Singaraja harbor (north Bali) failed as the harbor was completely occupied, so the ship was intentionally stranded on the rocky beach of Tulamben, where it was unloaded.
