The first stop is the sacred monkey Forest of Sangeh*, with its tall nutmeg trees and cheeky inhabitants greet you as you step down from the vehicle. After a short walk, guests can watch as a man climbs a towering coconut tree to drop down juicy young coconuts for them to drink*. In a sleepy village on the slope of the Ayung River Valley, we are met at our Rafting location with warm hospitality and a refreshing welcome drink. From the valley below mist rises, the belief in Bali is that the river houses a sleeping dragon; hence this mist is from its breath in the mornings. An offering to appease the dragon, safety instructions by the professional guides and get ready for the most popular adventure tour on the island, paddle, splash and thrill to the rhythm of the paradise river.
